Heritage Center reopens

The Palmerton Area Historical Society will be having a reopening on Oct. 31 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. of its Heritage Center at 410 Delaware Ave., Palmerton. The center underwent nine months of renovations that were interrupted on numerous occasions by COVID-19.

The center has a special Feature Room that will recognize the talent and virtuosity of its citizens with a display of 75 years of works by local artists.

The reopening will follow COVID-19 protocols. For additional information call 610-824-6954.

Trunk or treat

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton (Bowmanstown) will be host to a trunk or treat on Nov. 1 from 2-4 p.m. in the church parking lot. The event is open for all children to enjoy.

Fire Co. filling sale

The Aquashicola Volunteer Fire Company, Little Gap Road, Palmerton, is holding its annual filling sale. Order by Nov. 9 by calling 610-826-2066. The filling will be available for curbside pickup or inside pickup with mask on Nov. 24 after 7 p.m. or Nov. 25 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the fire company.

Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton (Bowmanstown) holds worship each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. There are four options of worshipping: Worship in the sanctuary, must wear a mask, have temperature check, and social distancing required; worship in Leah’s Room with same rules as sanctuary; you may worship in your vehicle in the parking lot and tune to 104.3; or you may join on Facebook Live. Service is led by Pastor Rob Timlin Sr.

Every Wednesday at 7 p.m. is “prayer & Service” with the same options of worshipping.

The October Mission is Operation Christmas Child. This mission brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through the gift of filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s Love. Details are on the church website at www.faithalivechurch.com.

ABC Pantry could use donations of canned goods, vegetables and soups. Call the church if you are in need of food from their pantry.

Thanksgiving filling sale

Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Trachsville, will be having a Thanksgiving filling sale Nov. 24. This is fresh made, not frozen. Orders are due by Nov. 8. Please call 610-681-5200 or 610-681-5403. Pickup will be Nov. 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Palmerton library

As the Library continues to meet the challenges COVID-19 presents to library services, they would like to thank everyone for their continued support. While the library is open for book browsing, computer, fax, and photocopying, it is understandable that many people prefer other ways to access library services. The library is still offering curbside pickup. Please call 610-826-3424 for assistance.

The United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley has generously donated book and activity bags to the library for distribution. Stop by between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Oct. 31 to pick up a bag for preschool and elementary ages. Limited availability.

Trick or treat

Trick or treat will be held in the Palmerton Borough on Oct. 31 from 5 to 7 p.m. Please wear masks and practice social distancing as much as possible.

Curbside breakfast

Parryville Volunteer Fire Co. #2, Main Street in Parryville, will host a curbside breakfast on Nov. 1 from 8-11:30 p.m. There is a limited menu. Takeout is preferred but limited seating will be available for those requesting dine in.
