Rummage sale
A rummage sale will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, Second and Coal streets in Lehighton on Oct. 30 and 31. Hours are Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lots of goodies at low prices.
Due to coronavirus, masks, gloves, social distancing and contact registration will be required. We will supply gloves. All Saints Café will be open for takeout orders only. The number of people allowed in the building at one time is 25, including volunteers.
Trinity happenings
Sunday indoor worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, with Holy Communion, begins 9:30 a.m. The bread wafer and communion container are presealed as a safe way to celebrate the sacrament. A remembrance of All Saints will be observed, including the names of deceased members since last year read aloud, a candle lit and a solitary bell rung. Vicar Joshua Krenz presides during worship. The Rev John Hazel presides at Holy Communion.
Reservations must be made before the close of office hours Thursday, Oct. 29. Weekly reservations need to be made each Thursday before the Sunday worship at 610-377-4303 or email telc1872@ptd.net. Enter the doors on Iron Street. Masks covering the nose and mouth must be worn throughout the entirety of the worship service. There will be no singing.

Weekly Sunday school sessions start at 10:45 a.m. for students age 3 though sixth grade along Iron Street as a drive-thru format. After the drive-thru session of Nov. 8, a winter break will follow. Sunday church school will return in the spring.
The Thrift Store has reopened for business. There are some changes: Shopping and donation drop-offs will be by appointment only. Please call 610-377-4471 on Mondays from 9-5 p.m. to schedule an appointment. The store will be open for shoppers with an appointment on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Fridays from 1-6 p.m. Drop-offs can be scheduled on Thursdays by appointment only. Masks and social distancing will be required. Due to limited space, no children under the age of 12 will be allowed. Further guidelines will be addressed. Your patience is appreciated.
The Food Pantry continues to be open Tuesdays 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with a drive-up setting and precautionary measures in place. Residents in need who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive prepackaged supplemental food items. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pick up. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.
The Rev. Christopher deForest has been elected bishop of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod. He is pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church, Kutztown. He served as pastor at St John’s, Mahoning Township, from 2011-2018. You are asked to lift up in your thoughts and prayers the newly elected bishop as he works to discern the nature and implications of his call; and for Bishop Zeiser and his wife, Linda, as they seek to live out the ministry of their daily life in retirement.
The worship service for Bishop-elect deForest is Dec. 5, 10 a.m., via livestream at facebook.com/nepsynod. ELCA Bishop the Rev. Elizabeth Eaton will preside. His term of office begins on Jan. 1, 2021.
