The Tamaqua Area School District reported a confirmed COVID positive case on Tuesday.
In a letter addressed to district families, superintendent Ray Kinder said a high school student tested positive for COVID-19, but is on the road to recovery and doing well.
“When the school was informed of the positive case, we immediately contacted and received guidance from the Pennsylvania Department of Health,” Kinder said in the letter.
“Communication occurred with data collection and risk assessment performed by the department of health. After this consultation, it was determined that no additional individuals were identified as being at risk and quarantine is not recommended for anyone else related to the school setting.”
According to the letter, the student is now in isolation.
Kinder noted that all of the district buildings are disinfected daily and that all other information in regard to the student is confidential.
“This is an opportunity to remind all members of our community of the importance of wearing face coverings, keeping socially distant whenever possible and disinfecting hands and surfaces regularly,” said Kinder’s letter.
“We also want to remind families to complete the district’s health screening tools that is to be used prior to coming to school each day. Staying home when sick or when exhibiting symptoms not only keeps you safe, but also minimizes the risk of infection or quarantine by others.”
