Mahoning Township residents are concerned with speeding and truck traffic on a township road.
An increase in truck traffic has been noticed recently by residents on Breezewood Road, who say that the landscaping business that operates on the road is what’s causing so many trucks to go up and down, causing cars to pass in the opposite direction with barely any room to spare.
Although the business provides landscaping services, the trucks bear the name Breezewood Farms, which was questionable to council members.
Supervisors stated that extending the gravel project on the road is a possibility due to the fact much of it is a narrow dirt strip.
Millings from the airport will be used to fill in sections of the dirt road to reduce dust kicked up from road traffic.
Additionally, the township will take a look at next year’s budget to conduct a possible traffic and speed study for under 35 mph zones, with a possible weight restriction.
Next year, the township will look into the second phase of construction and finishing the drain pipes on the section of Breezewood to Laurel Road.
