Brodheadsville post office goes pink for breast cancer awareness campaign

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the United States Postal Service is doing its part to bring awareness to the cause.

You might have noticed your local post office is in the pink, and the Brodheadsville post office has gone over and above to raise awareness.

You can’t look anywhere in the post office that you don’t see pink colorful posters and displays about breast cancer awareness. All the posters were designed by Brodheadsville Postmaster Stacy Loki.

“We are promoting the Breast Cancer Awareness stamp, but we also wanted to provide a way for people to share why they support breast cancer awareness,” said Patricia Alexander, a USPS employee at the Brodheadsville Post Office.

Breast cancer is very personal, and everyone involved in the disease, whether they are the patient, a survivor, spouse, friend or sibling, they all have a reason why they support breast cancer, she said.

“As part of the awareness campaign, when a customer shows their support by purchasing breast cancer awareness stamps, they receive a pink ribbon, and we encourage them to write their reason for their support and then hang it on our ribbon wall,” Alexander said, adding, “It could be in memory of a loved one, someone they lost, someone they care about going through treatment, or they might be a survivor themselves.”
