Country Harvest back up and running after employee tests positive for COVID

A Palmerton business that shut down for one day after an employee tested positive for COVID-19 was back to business as usual Wednesday morning.

Country Harvest Family Market reopened at 8 a.m., a day after being closed after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19, according to assistant store manager Chad Kerschner.

Kerschner said they became aware after 7 p.m. Monday that a staff member had tested positive, and noted that employee will be out for a two-week period.

In response to the situation, he said a sanitizing and cleaning company came in Tuesday and did a thorough cleaning of the store.

“They were here for six hours,” Kerschner said. “We were given the green light that we could open up for the next business day.”

Count Susie Behler among those who was glad to see the business back up and running this morning.

Behler, of Palmerton, said she routinely shops at the store.

“I’m so glad; I don’t know what I could do without them,” Behler said. “I am a very dedicated customer.”

Kerschner said that employees personally didn’t have to quarantine, but if any staff members felt they wanted to, they could.

He said the store has resumed its regular hours of operation during the pandemic from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
