Tuesday night, Coaldale council members and residents of the borough joined together for the monthly meeting and discussed road work, Halloween dates and the large vehicle/trailer ordinance that is in the works.
The area of 200 W. Early Ave. was announced to be put on the blacktop list for next year. Vice President Claire Remington said it would have been completed this year but some more work had to be done to prepare for the fixes, such as adding a sewer line.
President Angela Krapf announced Halloween will take place on Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. Residents are asked to not allow anyone into their homes and to give out candy from their porches. Vehicles are permitted at the park in the same manner as last year.
Council is still figuring out where the large vehicles around town could park for a fee. The Coaldale complex was suggested, but Krapf wanted to keep that space for children to play soccer.
Council said the area is also known to sink with too much weight on it.
“We’ll get the street committee together and we’ll look around,” Krapf said about where the vehicles would go.
Other business
Matthew Jungbaer was approved to be hired as a part-time snowplower on Remington’s recommendation.
Applications have come in for part-time seasonal work and the files have been put on record, however, the borough is not currently hiring.
Moser Avenue is getting a new inlet and will be less money to fix than previously estimated. Remington said they will also pave it.
The budget meeting is set for Oct. 28 at 6 p.m.
Bills were motioned to be paid as money becomes available.
