Sabotaging democracy

After reading political articles about our voting rights I feel compelled to write this letter to the editor. The GOP doesn’t want everybody to vote. The goal is to sabotage democracy.

The Republicans don’t have broad enough appeal to fairly produce an election majority, so it has resorted to rigging the system.

Their strategy is to shrink turnout by blocking its supporters, blacks, Latinos, Native Americans and young people from entering the polling stations.

The Republicans close their eyes and plug their ears with corporate campaign money to steal targeted peoples’ right to vote.

Nationwide, states have removed 17 million Americans since 2016 election from their voting rights through the law “no match/no vote.” A missing comma, middle initial or hyphen can cancel your voting right regarding your registration card.

Another tactic, the GOP has stopped postage paid return envelopes. In Pennsylvania alone, Republicans have sued 67 counties to allow GOP-hired out-of-country poll-watchers who will challenge voters.

The GOP are recruiting and training up to 50,000 people to confront 15 key states.

Another tactic, they are slashing budgets for voting machines and poll-watchers and creating long lines and waits. Trump installed one of his rich funders as postmaster general in May, Louis DeJoy.

DeJoy’s first action was to sabotage timely mail delivery by drastically cutting postal workers hours and removing mail sorting machines and streetside letter boxes. The majority of our political and economic leaders are not committed to democracy. They, like Trump, are only concerned about their greedy selves.
