A look back: Oct. 7, 2003

Lehighton has its own community art mule, “Franz Kline Muler,” thanks to the hard work of several Lehighton artists.

Beth Franks, coordinator, said she spent about 80 to 100 hours on painting the Franz Kline Muler, which was unveiled Friday during the Lehighton Rotary Club’s second annual art show. Artists also involved in the painting were Eddie Jo Gaston, Cindy (Mertz) Lafaw, Mary Collins and Kathy Long. Becky Finsel served as the consultant.

The mule will be housed inside the former high school building where Kline attended. The building is being turned into offices and a community area.
