After a lengthy executive session Monday night, Weissport Council chose its new police chief.

Council President Dennis Moser announced Bruce Malatesta of Sharon Hill will be hired, pending a background check and if he accepts.

Steve Mansueto, chairman of the police and safety committee, said Malatesta has a good resume and is a seasoned police officer with more than 20 years of experience in the criminal justice system. He has also worked with the DARE program and was a middle school resource officer.
