Da Vinci Science Center debuts marine life exhibit
Da Vinci Science Center, Allentown, may have closed its building due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the coronavirus is not stopping visitors from having a once-in-a-life-time experience with its BRICKLIVE Ocean exhibit.
“This is the first time BRICKLIVE Ocean has been exhibited in North America,” Da Vinci Sales and Visitor Services Manager Kelly Martin said. “It is produced by a company based in the United Kingdom.”
BRICKLIVE Ocean features 25 colorful sculptures of marine life, including life-sized sharks, dolphins, African Penguins, spider crabs, seals, sea lions, manatee and more.
The display, built from 1,052,973 interlocking construction toy bricks, took 4,480 hours to build.
While viewing the exhibit, visitors are presented biological and fun facts, as well as conservation and model statistics, such as how many bricks and hours it took to build each marine animal.
Martin said the science center is having a contest to see if visitors can guess how many bricks it took to build the Sea Turtle.
This outdoor and socially distanced exhibit is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays; and Thursdays through Sundays through Nov. 1.
All visitors age 2 and older are required to wear a face covering while touring the exhibit.
To avoid overcrowding, visitors must reserve timed tickets for everyone age 3 and older.
