An employee in the Schuylkill County Sheriff’s office has tested positive for COVID-19.
Chief Deputy Brian Tobin said Wednesday a sheriff’s deputy tested positive.
“The individual called me, and I called Sheriff Groody,” Tobin said of the phone call he received late Tuesday.
He said the person is a deputy with the department. Contract tracing has been done, he said.
“The two people who are quarantined are also deputies,” Tobin said.
He said the Sheriff’s office is open.
He urged people to be vigilant to combat the spread of COVID-19.
“People need to wear masks. Wear a mask and wash your hands,” Tobin said.
Groody and Gary Bender, county administrator, did not return calls for comment. An employee in the human resources office said Doreen Kutzler with Hubric Resources, Wyomissing, the firm hired to provide interim human resources support, was in a meeting.
