West Penn Township continues to move forward in developing a new park.
Supervisors at Monday’s meeting approved the motion for the land to be appraised and surveyed. The project, which is located in the vicinity of the former Atlas Park, is composed of just over 26 acres, which was donated by resident Dennis D’Angelo at Bella Terra Farms LLC. The board accepted an agreement with D’Angelo in July.
“If it wasn’t for people like Dennis D’Angelo, this couldn’t even be a dream,” said Supervisors’ Chairman Tony Prudenti. “Everybody seems to be very excited about it. It takes a lot of people to put this together.”
Atlas Park is located on the west end of the township. The board will be applying for a grant in March 2021 for the project when the application window is open.
Letter of thanks
Delroy Haas, a township resident, submitted a letter of thanks to the board directed toward members of West Penn’s road crew. Haas said that Clint Schock and Jeremy Frable went above and beyond, when they noticed him under his vehicle making repairs.
Schock and Frable went out of their way to make sure that Hass was unharmed.
“We have a road crew that’s second-to-none,” Prudenti said. “The two guys that were mentioned are our leaders of the road department. The whole department is great. This is my fifth year as supervisor, and it takes a while to get the team together and in the right direction. I’m very excited about the future of the township.”
