The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported Wednesday that there were 898 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 152,544.

There are 8,062 total deaths attributed to COVID-19, an increase of 39 new deaths reported.

In nursing and personal care homes, there are 22,331 resident cases of COVID-19, and 4,893 cases among employees, for a total of 27,224 at 962 distinct facilities in 61 counties. Out of our total deaths, 5,360 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities. Approximately 10,419 of our total cases are among health care workers.

Locally, Carbon County is reporting 455 cases, an increase of three, with 28 deaths.

Lehigh County has 5,530 positives, an increase of 25 cases. Deaths increased by two to 352.

Luzerne County has 11 additional cases, for a total of 4,050. Deaths remain at 189.

Monroe County has 1,780 cases, an increase of one. One more death was attributed to coronavirus, for a total of 132.

In Northampton County, there are 4,421 cases, an increase of 18, with 305 deaths.

In Schuylkill County, eight more cases have been confirmed, for a total of 1,076. There are 52 deaths.
