The Northwestern field hockey team kicked off the 2020 season with a non-league victory Friday.
Elsewhere, the Palmerton golf team recorded a Colonial League win on Thursday.

Northwestern opened the season with a convincing 3-0 non-league win over Lehighton.
Tess Ledeboer scored twice for the defending District 11 Class 1A champion Tigers in the first half. Brooke Page added another score before the intermission, while Claire Costa tallied two assists and Lauren Shellhamer added one.
Northwestern held an 11-1 edge in shots on goal and a 13-1 advantage in corners.
Abby Frey made four saves for the Indians, while Shelby Heater stopped three shots.
GOLF
Palmerton-Wilson
Palmerton cruised to a 397-573 Colonial League victory over Wilson on Thursday.
Josh Suto paced the Blue Bombers with a 71, while Derek Rea followed with a 73. Tyler Hager (83), Connor Reinhard (85) and Jacob Sutton (85) also had solid rounds in the win.
