A Schuylkill County man is being sought for assault charges following a domestic incident.

State police at Frackville said troopers were dispatched on Aug. 28 at 1:30 a.m. to a residence along Broad Street in New Castle Township for a domestic incident. A 30-year-old woman from Saint Clair reported she and Christopher Achenbach, 40, of Saint Clair, were involved in a fight. During the incident the victim said Achenbach grabbed her by the throat, then picked up by the neck and attempted to suffocate her.

She said she was gasping for air and could not breathe. She said Achenbach then threw her on the bedroom floor. She was able to flee the residence and go to a neighbor’s house and call 9-1-1.

Troopers said there is an active warrant for Achenbach’s arrest for strangulation and related counts.
