Personnel and equipment of the Onoko Fire and Rescue responded to a dryer fire at Jim and Vickies Laundromat in Jim Thorpe on Fifth Street at 12:20 p.m. Sunday. The damage was limited to one dryer. Someone put their clothes in and left the facility. Another customer reported they heard a popping noise and heavy smoke started coming out of dryer. The customer tried to put it out with extinguisher but it smoldered. The fire was under control in 15 minutes. Laundromat is closed today for cleanup. VICTOR IZZO/SPECIAL TO THE TIMES NEWS
