August 29, 1997 - Northern Lehigh’s Alex Kowalchyk crosses the finish line first to help the Bulldogs record five victories in their season-opening cross country meet. Kowalchyk turns in a time of 17:38 at Northampton’s three-mile course as his team posts wins over the Konkrete Kids, Nazareth, Bethlehem Catholic, Freedom and Central Catholic. Matt Oertner places third in a time of 18:23, while John Breininger (11th), Damien Horn (12th), Brock Mantz (13th) and Kevin Whalen (14th) all end in the top 15.
