Pair of NL employees nab awards
A pair of Northern Lehigh School District employees were recently the recipients of a very prestigious award.
EdithAnn Fella, an intervention coordinator at Peters Elementary, and Kyle Kreamer, computer technician, both received the Lauretta Woodson Awards through The Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, Lehigh Chapter.
The purpose of the award is to recognize an educator and a support professional who have exhibited creativity, initiative or productivity relevant to the learning process and growth of children.
Fella received the educator award.
“It means a tremendous amount; I’ve spent my entire career at Northern Lehigh, and I have worked with incredible teachers and incredible administrators,” Fella said. “Working with the caliber of staff we have here, it certainly is an honor to be recognized.”
Fella, who resides in Schnecksville, will retire Oct. 2 after 37 years with the district.
“I’m just incredibly honored,” she said. “It was such a surprise, and such an honor.”
Kreamer received the support professional award.
“It was a big surprise finding out about the award,” Kreamer said. “It was an award I wasn’t familiar with since I’m fairly new to the district.”
Kreamer said he’s in his second year at Northern Lehigh.
“I was just surprised in such a short period of time I was getting an award, so I was pretty proud of that,” he said. “It just felt pretty good because ever since I started, we’ve been very busy with projects.
Kreamer said that while there’s been a lot of pick up and get completed, the award serves as validation.
“It just kind of felt good with all the hard work; my time at Northern Lehigh has been great and pleasant,” he said. “It’s a good feeling knowing all the long hours and the extra time spent is being appreciated.”
