August 26, 1949 - Frank Piccin belts a pair of home runs to power Summit Hill to a 13-3 victory over Nesquehoning in the second game of their best-of-three Panther Valley League semifinal series. Piccin connects for a solo homer in the second inning and blasts a three-run shot in the seventh. Steve “Monk” Robin also goes deep in the contest. Vernon Garrett finishes with four hits, including a two-run single during a seven-run first inning. Also in the first, “Herky” Jasinski connects for a three-run triple. The winners, who claim the series in the third game, also receive four hits and two runs from Vince Lisella.
