A look back: Aug. 26, 1987

The Lehigh Valley Hospital Center, Allentown, joined the Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton, in dedicating a new helipad on the local hospital grounds last evening.

Dr. George E. Moerkirk, medical director of the flight program, was the guest speaker, explaining the helipad will provide a safe and designated site for MedEvac helicopters to land in the future.

LVHC helicopters will provide round-the-clock emergency transportation for patients who are brought to Gnaden Huetten for emergency care but require transfer to another hospital.
