Frackville state police report on crashes
State police at Frackville reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roadways.
• A crash was reported at 8:02 a.m. on Aug. 6 along Ball Diamond Road at Tuscarora Mountain Road in Ryan Township. Troopers identified the drivers involved as Bronwyn M. Schuetrumpf, 65, of Coaldale, driving a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Maria A. Benjamin, 52, of Mahanoy City, driving a 2017 Chevrolet Trax. Details of the crash were not reported by troopers. Troopers indicated that Schuetrumpf was cited for the crash.
• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 7:56 a.m. on Aug. 7 along Route 924, at the intersection with Pennsylvania Avenue, in West Mahanoy Township. Troopers said Andrew T. Lencoski, 30, of Shenandoah, was stopped for a stop sign on Pennsylvania Avenue and then attempted to go north on 924 without proper clearance and pulled in the path of a vehicle operated by Rubel A. Cruz, 23, of Shenandoah, who was southbound on 924. The front of Cruz’s 2003 Jeep Liberty struck the driver’s side door of Lencoski’s 2010 Audi A4. Both drivers were not injured but a passenger with Cruz, Damien M. Deihm, 19, of Ringtown, sustained a suspected minor injury and was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital East, Pottsville.
Lencoski was cited for the crash.
• A one-vehicle crash was reported along Route 54 in Girardville. Troopers said Kenneth A. Griffith, 65, of Ashland, was driving a 2010 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he pulled near North Second Street, and began to go westbound on 54. Griffith said his wife, Kristy A. Griffith, 43, passenger, leaned back, causing the front tire to lift off the ground causing him to lost control. The bike fell over onto its left side.
Kristy A. Griffith had a minor injury and was treated at the scene. Kenneth Griffith was cited for the crash.
• Troopers investigated two crashes along Interstate 81. The first occurred at 3:25 p.m. on Aug. 7 in West Mahanoy Township. Michael V. Gilbert, 61, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt northbound and claimed a rear tire blew out during a heavy rainstorm. The vehicle spun out of control and went onto the right berm where it struck two traffic signs and came to final rest along a grass embankment.
Gilbert and his passenger, Chrystal L. Gilbert, 56, same address, were not injured.
The second crash occurred about 3:48 a.m. on Aug. 9 in Ryan Township. Keith L. Turner, 30, of Habersham, Georgia, was driving a 2019 Dodge Charger southbound in the left lane when he lost control and struck the guide rail. Turner was not injured but the vehicle was towed.
He was cited for the crash.
