Cooking with kids classes
Lehigh Carbon Community College will offer two parent and child classes at its main campus Children ages 10-16 and their parents can attend for $55 per class.
On Aug. 12, from 10 a.m. to noon, learn how to decorate cupcakes like a pastry chef, or learn how to make classic Neapolitan-style pizza on Oct. 17, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Classes may transition to remote at any time due to the guidelines put in place for COVID-19, and participants will be contacted via email or phone.

Civilian firearms training and Act 235 security officer training
A certified training center specified by the Pennsylvania Training Commission, offers a wide variety of courses designed for retired police officers, Act 235 security officers and civilians who possess firearms or carry any variety of self-defense tools.
• A Basic Lethal Weapons (Act 235) class with firearms will be held Monday through Oct. 12-16, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is a fee. Training takes place at both LCCC’s main campus in Schnecksville and Emmaus Indoor Range.
• Act 235 (Lethal Weapons) Recertification Classes and Recertification for the Retired Law Enforcement Officer ID Act are offered from August through December. Firearms/Decision-Making Skills for the Responsible Gun Owner, which includes a full day at Emmaus Indoor Range, will offer courses in September, November and December.

Information sessions for health care careers
Lehigh Carbon Community College now offers short-term programs to assist students in learning skills required in the health care field. Classes are held at campuses in Schnecksville, Allentown and Tamaqua.
Free health care information sessions are held at LCCC Allentown to explore the programs. Preregistration is required. Dates and times are Aug. 20, Oct. 15 or Dec. 10 at 5 p.m. and Sept. 16 or Nov. 18 at 9 a.m.
Nurse Aide Orientation sessions are offered at no cost to individuals but are required before enrolling in the training program. Orientations are offered at LCCC’s Allentown campus on Aug. 25 at 5 p.m. or Oct. 13 at 1 p.m.
