The multi-discipline engineering firm Barry Isett and Associates Inc., based in Allentown with seven other locations in eastern and central Pennsylvania, has purchased the assets of CodeMaster Inspection Services of the Lehigh Valley.

The acquisition adds seven full-time employees and one part-time employee to Isett’s Code Service Department, as well as 17 client municipalities that previously relied upon CodeMaster for code, zoning, permitting and related services.

“We told existing CodeMaster clients that a few differences will be the logo on the inspector’s vehicles and apparel, and the letterhead of the documents we send them,” said Matt Walter, Isett’s Code Services department head.

“Otherwise, the only change they should see is the increase of the staff serving their community.”

CodeMaster staff members and clients transitioned to Isett effective April 1.

“The newly acquired staff has largely remained with their previous municipalities to maintain continuity throughout the transition,” Walter said.

“We intend to continue with this model for the rest of the year and then re-evaluate for efficiency beginning early in 2021.”

Along with decades of technical experience of CodeMaster’s staff, Isett also acquired the former company’s custom computer program called CodeTracker, which is permit-management, inspection-scheduling and accounting software. Isett personnel are using the software for the former CodeMaster clients and hope to integrate it departmentwide by the end of 2020.

In addition to code implementation, Isett’s Code Services group provides zoning administration, property maintenance, health enforcement, floodplain management, rental property inspection and enforcement of historic district regulations.

Code Services is just one discipline at Isett. With more than 190 employees, the company also offers survey, environmental and construction services; civil, forensic, municipal, structural and geotechnical engineering; mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering; landscape design; and construction inspection.

Founded by Barry E. Isett in 1977 in the Lehigh Valley, the company has Pennsylvania offices in Allentown, Doylestown, Mechanicsburg, Phoenixville, Stroudsburg, Wilkes-Barre, Hazleton and Wyomissing.
