State police at Lehighton reported that a 75-year-old man died in a fire at a residence along Oak Street in Parryville on Wednesday evening.

Troopers said the fire was reported at 4:14 p.m. The man’s body was found inside of the rear enclosed porch of the residence. Troopers said there is nothing suspicious concerning the cause of the fire or the victim’s death. Cigarette smoking was a contributing factor in the fire, troopers added. A state police fire marshal responded to the scene.
