The Tamaqua Borough Council last night appointed John R. Handler, 246 W. Broad St., to one of several vacancies on the Citizens Advisory Council, a nonpaying position. The CAC oversees the housing rehabilitation program within the community.

Handler is a 1968 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Penn State University and a master’s degree in public finances.

He has been employed in the banking industry and is presently a sales representative for the Peoples Security Life Insurance Company. Handler is also a former member and treasurer of the Tamaqua Area School District Board of Education.
