Schuylkill County Controller Christy Joy announced his resignation on Monday morning effective July 17.
“I have agreed to take a position with Heim Construction of Orwigsburg,” Joy said in a statement to the Times News. “I was approached by Heim Construction in February 2020, but at the time I was committed to the race for state representative in the 125th.”
Joy noted the discussion with Heim was re-engaged after the election. He received a formal offer on June 16 and accepted on June 24.
“My wife, Heather, and I agreed that taking this position would be best for our family,” Joy said.
Joy has been in the Schuylkill County Controller position since 2012. He is a certified public accountant and certified fraud examiner.
“I want to thank my staff in the controller’s office for their dedicated and professional service. I will never forget their support and tireless efforts. I also want to thank all county officials, administration, department heads and employees whose cooperation was invaluable. Finally, I want to thank the people of Schuylkill County and all those who have supported me over the years. I truly value my service as county controller as one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.”
