A look back: June 30, 1953

J. Paul Knauss was elected to the presidency of the Mauch Chunk Board of Education last night, succeeding Fred DeBellis, who resigned following his recent election as board treasurer.

Elected to secretary to succeed William Klotz, retiring member of the board, was Edward Bellhorn.

Knauss was nominated for the presidency by George Beers, the nomination being closed by Bellhorn and DeBellis.

The directorate retained Francis X. York as solicitor and Fred Kemmerle was named truant officer.
