Members of the Lehighton fire department rescued a stranded kayaker Saturday morning from the Lehigh river. The incident began around 11 a.m. when two women heard the cry for help from a small island just off Lehigh Drive in Lehighton. The fire department along with its boat and dive team were dispatched to the scene.
