The Senior Farmers’ Market Program of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture will be offered again to eligible Carbon County senior citizens age 60 and over.
Each person will get vouchers worth $24 to spend at any farmers market or farm stand that participates in the program throughout Pennsylvania. To be eligible you must be a Carbon County resident age 60 or older by Dec. 31, 2020.
Total gross annual income must be at or below $23,606 for a single person household and $31,894 for a two-person household. A couple is entitled to $24 each. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, there will be no public distributions this year. The vouchers will be mailed. To receive vouchers by mail, you must mail or email an application to the Carbon County Area Agency on Aging.
Pick up the application at various locations. Take more than one if you are picking up for others. Applications will not be mailed. They will be located outside the main entrance of buildings from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the following locations:
• Palmerton Library, 402 Delaware Ave.
• Rep. Doyle Heffley, Weissport Office, 204 Bridge St.
• Lehighton Rec Center, 243 S. Eighth St.
• Jim Thorpe Market, 1 River St.
• Jim Thorpe/Penn Kidder Senior Center, 993 Route 903, Bear Creek Plaza
• Nesquehoning, PV Senior Center, 90 E Catawissa St.
• Lansford Borough Office, 1 W. Ridge St.
• Summit Hill Borough Office, 40 W. Amidon St.
• Weatherly Borough Office, 10 Wilbur St.
• Beaver Meadows Borough Office, 100 E. Broad St.
