A 3-year-old girl died Tuesday evening after being struck by a car in Lansford.
Lansford police chief Jack Soberick said the incident occurred just after 6:30 p.m. in the 500 block of East Bertsch Street.
The child was playing or ran out into traffic, Soberick said. A driver, a man in his 20s, was approaching from the east side and didn’t see the girl and hit her, Soberick said. Police are reviewing video footage from the scene.
The girl’s father was washing his car and saw the incident. He drove her to St. Luke’s Hospital in Coaldale, where she died as a result of injuries.
Lansford police are continuing to investigate the incident.
Soberick said an autopsy will be performed Thursday morning.
