Pa. reports 610 new cases of COVID-19
The Pennsylvania Department of Health today confirmed as of midnight May 19, that there are 610 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 63,666. All 67 counties in Pennsylvania have cases of COVID-19.
There are 4,624 total deaths attributed to COVID-19, an increase of 119 new deaths.
Cases reported locally:
Carbon County remains level at 214 cases, with 22 deaths.
Lehigh County has 43 new cases for a total of 3,513 cases. The death total is 182, an increase of nine from Monday.
Monroe County added eight cases and now has 1,276 positives. The death count has risen by one to 89.
Schuylkill County added five cases for a total of 534 positive cases. The death total has increased by one to 20.
Northampton County added 31 positives and now has 2,758. Five deaths have been added, for a total of 176.
Luzerne County is reporting 22 new cases for a total of 2,554. Two more deaths are reported for a total of 124.
There are 286,034 patients who have tested negative to date. Of the patients who have tested positive to date the age breakdown is as follows:
Nearly 1% are ages 0-4;
Nearly 1% are ages 5-12;
Nearly 2% are ages 13-18;
Nearly 6% are ages 19-24;
Nearly 37% are ages 25-49;
Nearly 26% are ages 50-64; and
Nearly 29% are ages 65 or older.
Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older. More data is available here.
In nursing and personal care homes, there are 13,813 resident cases of COVID-19, and 2,191 cases among employees, for a total of 16,003 at 557 distinct facilities in 44 counties. Out of our total deaths, 3,145 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities. A county breakdown can be found here.
Approximately 4,600 of our total cases are in health care workers.
