Jamey Mikovich named Wilkes Famale Athlete of the Year

Panther Valley High School graduate Jamey Mikovich was recently named the Wilkes University 2019-20 Female Athlete of the Year.

Mikovich won the award after putting together an outstanding senior volleyball season for the Colonels in the fall.

Mikovich broke the school record for career kills on Oct. 19 and finished her career at 1,468. She also concluded her career in third place in the Wilkes record book with 1,397 digs.

Mikovich broke her own school record for single-season kills with 422 this season. Her 422 kills ranked 17th in the country through the end of the regular season. Her 1,214 attacks ranked 21st, and her 62 service aces were 26th. She also ranked 14th in points-per-set with 4.70.

Mikovich finished first among MAC Freedom players with 526.5 points and 4.70 points-per-set.

Mikovich received several regular season and postseason honors, including being selected to the All-MAC Freedom Second Team for the third consecutive season. She was also named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III North Offensive Player of the Month for both September and October.

Mikovich earned All-MAC Freedom accolades in all four seasons, honorable mention in her freshman season of 2016 and second team in 2017, 2018, and 2019.

This past season, the Colonels finished with a 16-16 overall record and were 2-5 in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) contests. The 16 wins were tied for the third most in school history.
