Police report on Schuylkill crashes
State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers:
• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 6:35 a.m. on April 30 along Route 183 in Wayne Township. Troopers said Blake A. Kramer, 31, of Auburn, was driving a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta southbound and negotiating a left curve. Due to a combination of speed and road conditions Kramer lost control of his vehicle, which slid into the left lane and hit a 2005 Dodge van driven by James E. Wiest, 29, of Auburn.
No one was injured and the Dodge was towed. Kramer was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.
• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 8:03 a.m. on May 1 along Route 61 in West Brunswick Township. Emanuel Vaquero, 26, of Scranton, was driving a 2002 Honda CRV northbound in the right lane when he fell asleep. The CRV went onto the berm and struck a concrete barricade. It continued about 50 feet before coming to rest on the right shoulder against the guide rail.
Vaquero was not injured but the vehicle had to be towed.
He was cited for careless driving.
• A hit-and-run crash was reported in the Cressona Mall parking lot off Route 61 near Seven Stars Road in North Manheim Township. Troopers said a 72-year-old Minersville woman, was backing out of a parking space near the Giant supermarket while another driver was also pulling out of a parking space. Troopers said the two vehicles made contact. The other driver left the scene. No one was injured. The hit-and-run vehicle is believed to be a Chevrolet model.
• A crash was reported at 8:25 a.m. on May 2 along Route 895 in Wayne Township. Troopers said Carmine A. Coppola, 40, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 truck eastbound when a deer entered the road in front of him. He was unable to avoid striking the deer. Coppola was not injured.
• A crash was reported at 1:39 p.m. on May 4 along Route 443 in Wayne Township. Troopers said Dennis L. Boyer, 60, of Pine Grove, was driving a 2006 International truck which had a boom on it partially raised about 14 feet. While eastbound the boom caught onto wires of a utility pole overhead, damaging several wires and breaking three utility poles. Boyer was not injured.
