McAdoo police reported charges against a Luzerne County resident after a pursuit.
Police said at 2:07 p.m. April 22 a patrol unit ran the registration of a motorcycle in front of their car. The registration came back suspended for insurance cancellation and registered to someone in Hazle Township, Luzerne County.
Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop along North Kennedy Drive (Route 309). The driver of the bike initially pulled over but then took off at a high rate of speed northbound. Police pursued the fleeing vehicle with emergency lights and siren activated for a short distance before returning to the borough.
Police knew the bike was often parked at a residence along West Blaine Street. Police went to the residence and were advised by the owner the motorcycle was in the process of being transferred and that the operator was expected back in a couple of hours.
Later police saw the bike at the residence and spoke with the driver, identified as Isaia Bonilla, 21, of Hazleton. He admitted driving the bike earlier and fleeing police. He said he fled because the bike was not his and did not have any information for it. He also said he had no driver’s license.
Bonilla was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police, driving without a license, driving with a suspended registration and not having a proper license.
