A tractor trailer operator was killed in a crash Friday morning in Schuylkill Township.

The accident occurred about 11:30 a.m. as the trucker was descending the south side of the Brockton Mountain along Moss Glen road, one mile north of old Route 209 on Brockton Mountain. The unit apparently failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, crossing the lanes of travel entering the east berm rolling onto its side.

According to Schuylkill County Coroner David Moylan, the driver was ejected from the cab of the truck. His identification was not found, so police are contacting the trucking company to try to identify him.

Responding to the scene were the Tuscarora and Mary–D fire companies, the Tamaqua Rescue Squad and the Tamaqua Ambulance.

The Hometown fire police maintained traffic control at the scene shutting down the roadway in Locust Valley and at the Intersection with Old Route 209 in Brockton.

State police at Frackville are investigating the incident.
