The Monroe County Historical Association is pleased to announce the launch of a new contemporary collection campaign titled, “Collecting in the Time of COVID-19.”
The COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic has impacted the local community in so many different ways. It is an extraordinary time in the history of Monroe County, and one that certainly will be of significant interest to future researchers, scholars, historians and citizens.
The Monroe County Historical Association is actively collecting firsthand accounts and materials to help tell the community’s unique experiences during this challenging time.
The organization invites all Monroe County residents to become a “citizen historian” by contributing stories, photographs, artwork, poetry, and/or artifacts to the Monroe County Historical Association.
People of all ages, experiences, backgrounds and professions are welcome to participate so that the collection sufficiently represents the diversity of voices within the Monroe County community.
Through the documentation of personal and professional experiences surrounding this pandemic, the Monroe County Historical Association can create and preserve valuable primary sources to ensure that future generations will better understand the current struggles and triumphs.
