The Kovatch Corporation in Nesquehoning has been awarded a $1.8 million contract extension from the U.S. Air Force for rebuilding refueling trucks.
John Kovatch, president of the corporation, said this is an extension to the contract the company has had for the past 12 years. He said it is to have work continue while the Air Force considers bids for a new five-year contract on rebuilding the vehicles.
According to Kovatch, the Carbon County firm has been the sole rebuilding contractor for the Air Force since 1977, but he said it is not known if the firm will regain the contract with the Air Force.
