Several fast moving storms and wind gusts knocked out power to more than 25,000 people in PPL’s coverage area are without power because of high winds bringing down trees and wires.
The breakdown locally is:
• Carbon, with 584 people without electricity, including 5 in Bowmanstown, 112 in East Penn Township, 16 in Franklin Township, 31 in Kidder Township, 214 in Lehigh Township; 1 in Lower Towamensing Township, 47 in Mahoning Township, 13 in Penn Forest Township and 145 in Towamensing Township.
• Lehigh County has 1,147 customers without electricity, including 12 in Slatington and 91 in Washington Township.
• Monroe County has 1,604 customers out, with four in Chestnuthill, 26 in Eldred, and 470 in Polk Township.
• Northampton County has 334 customers without power, which includes 72 in Lehigh Township.
• Schuylkill County has 1,586 customers without power, which includes 264 in Rush Township, 38 in Ryan Township, 565 in West Mahanoy Township and 93 in West Penn Township.
