Woman charged, jailed in Tamaqua burglary

A woman was jailed late last month on burglary and related charges for an incident in Tamaqua.

Borough police said on March 21 officers received a complaint at 10:45 p.m. that a female entered a home in the Dutch Hill section of the borough in the area of East Union and Elizabeth streets.

On scene officers spoke with the victim who identified the woman as Mandi S. Gossman, 38, no known address. He said she entered his home while he was in the shower without permission and stole his wallet.

He attempted to keep her on scene but she fled before police arrived. She was previously told not to enter the home by other police officers.

At 11:43 p.m. officers received a call that Goosman was spotted going down Market Street to Schuylkill Avenue. Officers responded to the area and found Goosman in the middle of Schuylkill Avenue in the area of 128 Schuylkill Ave.

As police approached her she ran into the building at that address. Police entered the building and took her into custody.

She denied taking a wallet in the prior incident. Police searched her and found no wallet but did find a watch belonging to the victim.

She was charged with felony counts of burglary and criminal trespass and a misdemeanor count of theft. She was arraigned before a district judge and committed to the county prison in Pottsville.
