A Tamaqua driver was injured in a one-vehicle crash on March 14 at 6:21 p.m. after suffering an apparent medical emergency.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Dennis Wiscount, 36, was driving a 2014 Toyota 4Runner eastbound on Tumbling Run Road in North Manheim Township and attempting to contact his wife by phone while experiencing a medical emergency. The Toyota crossed over the westbound lane and went onto the berm where it struck several trees and came to final rest after striking a tree head-on.
Wiscount sustained minor injuries, troopers said, and was transported to an area hospital. The vehicle had to be towed. Troopers said Wiscount was cited for the crash.
Troopers also investigated a one-vehicle crash about 1:15 p.m. on March 17 along Route 209 in Tremont borough. Daniel P. Romberger, 42, of Stroudsburg, was driving a 2019 Dodge Journey northbound when his vehicle drifted to the right and struck a parked 2013 Chevrolet Silverado truck. The impact pushed the truck about 30 feet. The Journey came to rest blocking both lanes of the road.
Romberger was not injured. Both vehicles had to be towed. Romberger was cited for careless driving.
