Cancellations and announcements for March 20, 2020
• Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church
, 824 Catawissa Road, Lewistown Valley, is canceling all services for the next two weeks.
• Zion UCC Lehighton
has canceled all activities this week and March 22 worship service. The office is closed. There is an emergency number on the answering service. The church will update future events after March 22. Zion UCC will be doing small Facebook “live” worship services on our Facebook page. Please follow Zion UCC Lehighton on Facebook.
• Boat mooring sales at Mauch Chunk Lake Park
for this upcoming Saturday, March 21, will be accepted by phone or email only. Please visit www.mclpark.com for additional information.
• In response to information provided by public health officials, the Rush Township Police Department
is enhancing its service to the Rush Township community. For the elderly who are not medically able to go out in public, the police department will assist them as necessary with items such as the delivery of necessary medications and food. If you require assistance, or know someone who does, please contact the Rush Township Police Department at 570-668-4242.
• Summit Hill Borough Tax Collector
Kathleen Crampsie has announced the tax office will not be allowing taxpayers to stop in the home office to make payments.
She asks residents to make payments by mail or by dropping them in the mailbox, but cautions only checks or money orders are acceptable. She stresses residents should not send or put cash in the mail or in the mailbox.
• Weatherly Borough
real estate and per capita tax bills have been mailed directly by the printer to taxpayers. One check or money order can be used for the payment of all Weatherly Borough taxes.
Per capita tax is due from every resident 18 years of age or older. This tax is not paid from the escrow account of mortgages.
Carbon County tax bills will be received in a separate envelope. A separate check or money order is needed for the payment of Carbon County taxes.

Due to social distancing required to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, there will be NO in-person office hours as listed on the tax bills at this time. Office hours will resume when municipal offices reopen to the public.
Payments can be left in the locked mailbox or mailed to 794 North St., Weatherly, PA 18255. Please include all copies of the tax bills and a self-addressed stamped envelope if you would like “PAID” receipts returned to you.
