Cancellations and announcements for March 19, 2020
• Aquashicola Fire Department’s
32nd annual fish fry has been canceled due to the coronavirus.
Additionally, the fire department said all hall rentals and events scheduled in its social hall have been suspended indefinitely or have been postponed to a later date. The fire department urges to check with the respective sponsors, or call it at 610-826-2066 for refunds.
• Beaver Run Rod & Gun Club
in Lehighton will be closed until further notice.
• Blue Mountain Community Church,
25 Oak St., Palmerton, has suspended all services and activities at this time. We will livestream our church service every Sunday at 8:45 a.m. Our Easter service at Penn’s Peak has been canceled but we will livestream an Easter service on April 11 at 6 p.m. Please visit bmcc.cc for more information and archived services.
• Ben Salem UCC
, located at 1965 Church Hill Road, Lehighton, has canceled all church services and events until further notice. Look for upcoming livestreaming. Call 570-386-3870 for information.
• The free community meal at All Saints Episcopal Church
, North Second and Coal streets, Lehighton, scheduled for today has been canceled.
• St. John Lutheran,
in Tamaqua, will not be having worship Sunday, March 22. If you are planning on ordering lilies for Easter Sunday, please get them to the office as soon as possible or no later than March 25. You can mail orders in or drop them in the mail slot at the church. If not postmarked by March 25, they will automatically go into brick repair. Also, endowments and brick repair must be in the office by April 5, no later. Regular office hours are still 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
• Redner’s Warehouse Markets
has announced that from 6 to 7:30 a.m. daily will be reserved exclusively for those who are at the highest risk of contracting COVID-19.
This includes those age 60 and older, immune-compromised and pregnant women.
“While we will no be asking for any personal identification or proof, we will ask that other guests and communities respect this decision and be courteous to this request by allowing our most vulnerable to shop our stores when first opened, stocked and sanitized,” a release from Ryan S. Redner, president and CEO, states.
In addition, guests should not bring reusable bags into the store until further notice because they could be carriers of the virus. Cashiers will issue single use, plastic bags.
• ShopRite
will also reserve the first hour of operation for high-risk shoppers. From 7 to 8 a.m., the store is open for elderly and high-risk people to fill their orders.
The store has imposed limits on many high-demand items.
