Area police are searching for two men who robbed a maintenance worker and threw bleach in his face Monday morning at the former Lehigh Carbon Community College building, in the CVS Plaza on Locust Street in Nesquehoning.
Chief of Police Sean Smith said the maintenance man went into the building and two suspects were there. It is not clear if he walked in on something or they were waiting for him.
Smith said the suspects smashed lightbulbs over the victim’s head and then splashed bleach in his face. When he was on the ground and took his wallet.
Jim Thorpe and Lansford police department, and a state police helicopter assisted Nesquehoning in the search for the men.
The worker was taken to Lehigh Valley-Cedar Crest. His condition is not known.
Panther Valley Elementary School was on a limited lockdown today. Everything was normal for students but no one was allowed in the building without a proper ID and purpose.
