Mercury streetlights have been installed in Weissport. The new street lighting system was authorized by Weissport Council, and the work was done by the Pennsylvania Power and Light Company.

It was noted at last evening’s meeting of the council “the borough now has a brighter and more modern appearance.”

Council’s street committee members, Hilbert Green, Jacob Paperman and Warren Walck, will conduct a survey on areas where additional lights are needed.

Council will contact the state department of highways in reference to improved lighting on the “old” Lehighton-Weissport bridge.
