A free “Healthy Steps for Older Adults” fall-prevention workshop will be offered at the Tamaqua YMCA, 1201 E. Broad St., from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 17, 19 and 21.
People should pe-register before Feb. 12 by calling 570-624-3017.
Healthy Steps for Older Adults is an evidence-based program for people ages 50 and older to help reduce the risk of falls. Taught by a certified instructor, the program consists of three two-hour sessions and will measure fall risk through a variety of screenings.
It also provides information on what participants can do to reduce risks.
The Healthy Steps program was developed by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging and is designed to prevent falls by older adults.
