Comedy festival coming to SteelStacks
The critically acclaimed Baby Wants Candy and one of the most popular Asian-American improv shows in the nation highlight the seventh annual SteelStacks Improv Comedy Festival Jan. 24-25 at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem.
The festival will also feature 60-plus other improv comedy groups, with performers from across the country to entertain audiences for a comedy marathon. Festival hours are 6 p.m.-1 a.m. Friday and 10 a.m.-2 a.m. on Saturday.
Baby Wants Candy
Baby Wants Candy has performed more than 3,000 completely improvised musicals to thousands of fans from Chicago and New York to Singapore and Scotland.
Entirely based on audience suggestion and accompanied by a full band, the show is a roller-coaster ride of spontaneously choreographed dance numbers, rhyming verses and jaw-dropping comedy.
Baby Wants Candy, which will take the stage Jan. 25, 9:30 p.m., has helped launch the careers of some of the top comedic talent in the U.S.
Asian AF
On Jan. 24, at 9:30 p.m., the SteelStacks Improv Comedy Festival welcomes Asian AF. The first Asian-American improv show at the UCB Theatre in Los Angeles, Asian AF was created as a way to showcase even more comedic Asian-American talent.
Asian AF spotlights the best Asian-American actors, stand-up comedians, improvisers, sketch performers, musicians, dancers and storytellers.
Due to its immense popularity in Los Angeles, ASIAN AF was brought to New York in June 2017.
Other comedians
The SteelStacks Improv Comedy Festival show lineup will also feature stand-up by Alex Song, as well as improv by Donald Chang, Amir Khan, Jenny Arimoto, Akmal Tajihan and Alex Cheng.
In addition to the headlining performances, the improv festival will showcase improv groups from New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Boston and Austin, as well as more than one dozen teams from the Lehigh Valley.
Among the many highlights are Off The Top from New York City; Promises, an Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre house team from New York; The Crocodile’s Dilemma out of Pittsburgh; and The Great Old Ones.
