The Lehighton girls basketball team suffered a narrow setback against Pine Grove on Wednesday.

A quick start helped Pine Grove turn back Lehighton to claim a 34-33 Schuylkill League victory.

Alli Butler sparked the Cardinals, who led 17-8 after the first quarter, with a game-high 15 points.

Hailey Miller led the Indians’ balanced attack with eight points, while Aaliyah Fisher chipped in with seven. Lehighton outscored Pine Grove 25-17 over the final three frames.

Derek Troxell scored a game-high 17 points for the Roughies. Derek George added 14 points.
