Crews are on the scene of a fuel spill on Route 209 in Mahoning Township.

According to scanner reports, a truck from D&D Fuel overturned just before 9 a.m. today in the area of 131 Mauch Chunk St., in between Pine and Beaver streets.

Officials said the leak could include up to 2,000 gallons of fuel and have asked for the state Fish and Boat commission to be contacted over the concern that some of it could get into the Lehigh River.

A detour has been set up from the Jim Thorpe side, routing motorists from Route 209 to Oak Drive to Beaver Run Road and back to Packerton Dam Drive.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection is also responding to the rollover and fuel spill.

The road is expected to be closed for several hours.
