Family Fun Day will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Lehighton Recreation Center.
Admission is $10 for one child, $25 for three children, and parents are free.
The Rec Center will run the event in conjunction with Gilbert Family Amusements, according to recreation director Tom Evans.
Evans said the event is for children of any age and will feature bounce houses, games and food.
“We scheduled it in December, but we canceled it because we had an ice storm that weekend,” Evans said. “We plan on doing it twice a month to get the kids out; that’s what the youth center is for.”
Evans said he came up with the idea, and is hoping for a big turnout so that they may do this more often.
“It’s more for children to do on the weekend,” he said. “It’s to get them off their computers and get them out of the house.”
In addition to that event, Evans noted that the Winter Youth Program has been underway since last month.
He said those who attend get to play basketball, shoot pool, and play Ping-Pong, among other activities.
Evans said the program runs through the beginning of April.
“They do different activities,” he said. “For the young ones, it’s organized.”
Evans said the program is free, and runs for students in grades 4 through 8 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, and from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday; and for students grades 9 through12 from 8 to 9 p.m.
